Ethiopia Eats The Humble Pie To Congratulate The Newly Elected Somalia's President

Ethiopians Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn has congratulated the newly elected Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo a day after he was sworn in.

Somalia´s neighbor Ethiopia has openly been backing a return on Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who was a close ally of Addis.

Ethiopia had been keenly monitoring events in Somalia during the campaigns and on the election days hoping for a Mohamud win.

In a statement released by the Ethiopia News Agency Premier Desagln reiterated his government’s commitment and readiness to closely work with the newly elected President to benefit the people of the two countries.

Desagln expressed his appreciation to the outgoing President for his commitment to make the election successful.

The premier told ENA that the success of the election displays that Somalia has started the path towards democratization.
