EZ: Four people including a police officer have been killed after a knifeman brought terror to the heart of London, reported UK media. An attacker stabbed a policeman and was shot by police just outside Britain's parliament building Westminster on Wednesday. The police described it as a "terrorist incident."

According to “The Telegraph” report, the attacker, armed with two large knives, mowed down pedestrians with his car on Westminster Bridge, including school children, then rushed at the gates in front of the Houses of Parliament, stabbing a policeman before he was shot by armed officers.

Witnesses described scenes of terror when gunfire rang out as the attacker approached a second officer within yards of the Houses of Parliament.

Amid confusing scenes, it appeared the incident may have unfolded in several locations, including on the nearby Westminster Bridge where eyewitnesses said a car had crashed into pedestrians.

Daily Star reported that Foreign Minister Tobias Ellwood heroically attempted to save the officer's life by administering CPR.

Parliament was placed on lockdown with MPs locked inside with armed police carrying shields protecting the building.

Reports suggest that as many as 12 people have been injured with one woman and another victim confirmed dead after the horrific attack.

Scotland Yard have confirmed that the attack – which occurred at around 2.45pm – is being treated as a "terrorist incident".

Pictures are emerging of multiple injured on Westminster Bridge with video showing hundreds running away at the time of the attack.

Horror footage has surfaced reportedly moments after the car mowed down dozens people.

Eyewitnesses report that a woman was lying injured under a bus after the attack while others have said they saw several bodies lying in the River Thames.

The car reportedly pinned someone against the wall when it crashed, witnesses reported.

An air ambulance arrived at the incident which comes on the anniversary of the Brussels terrorist bombing and a few days after the UK launched a Trump-style ban on large electronics onboard planes.

Eyewitnesses report hearing a loud bang, then screaming and shooting.

The attacker is described as a "middle-aged" Asian man who was spotted running with an eight-inch knife.
