Photo of journalist Temesgen Desalegn invade street vendors
It is a customary to buy photos of public figures from the streets of Addis Ababa. One can pick from these vendors pictures of the former leaders, royal families, artists and national flag in different sizes.
However, it is not common to see photos of human right defenders and journalists in the collections of the street vendors, especially while they are in prison.
One of Temesgen's photo become so popular as many people want to have it in their home.
"I am making a lot of money from Temesgen's photos," said one of these street vendors who reprint the photos for sale. "I sale over 20 photos a day for 40 Birr each," he added.
According to this vender, the buyers are both men and women from different age group sometimes the police officers.
Journalist Temesgen Desalegn is one of popular Ethiopian journalists who criticize the government continuously.
He is now serving his three years imprisonment in Zeway Prison where he was reportedly hospitalized couple weeks ago.
